Cambridge Business English Certificate

The Cambridge exams are in line with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).

The exams are accepted by universities, business schools and multinational corporations, both in your country and abroad.

The courses and exams are on three different levels:

  • Business Preliminary – CEFR B1 (IELTS band scores 4.0-5.0): A level of English for practical everyday use in an international business environment;

  • Business Vantage – CEFR B2 (IELTS band scores 5.5 – 5.5): an upper-intermediate level of English;

  • Business Higher – CEFR C1 (IELTS band scores 7.0-8.0): The level of English required for demanding study and work settings.

Study program

During the training you work on building your: vocabulary, grammar, verbal skills such as problem solving, discussion, telephoning and meetings, your writing skills such as in e-mails, letters and reports. During the Cambridge Business English course you will be trained at the four language parts: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking during every session. The trainer will teach you the right way to answer the questions, will work on your test assignment approach and give you tips so that you can attain a high score for the Cambridge exam.

There will be homework for at a minimum of three hours in between the college sessions.

The admission requirements are:

For the B1 course your entry level must be at B1, so beyond the A2.

For the B2 course your entry level must be at B2 so beyond the B1.

For the C1 course your entry level must be at C1, so beyond the B2.

Examination

Cambridge exam: Business Preliminary B1 is made up of three papers developed to test your English skills:

  • Reading and writing, 1.30 hours: Shows you can read and understand the main points from graphs or charts, messages and emails, and can use vocabulary and structure correctly. You are also required to be able to produce two short pieces of writing: an internal communication, such as a note or a message, and some business correspondence, such as an email or a letter.
  • Listening, 40 minutes: Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials including interviews and discussions about everyday life.
  • Speaking, 12 minutes per pair of candidates, Shows your spoken English as you take part in conversation, asking and answering questions, and talking freely about your opinions, for example, when discussing business-related topics. Your Speaking test will be face-to-face with one or two other candidates. This makes your test more realistic and more reliable.

Cambridge exam: Business Vantage B2 is made up of four papers developed to test your English skills:

  • Reading, 1 hour: Shows you can deal confidently with different types of text, such as business publications and correspondence.
  • Writing, 45 minutes: Requires you to be able to produce two different pieces of writing, such as letters, reports, proposals and emails.
  • Listening, 40 minutes: Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials, such as interviews, discussions and presentations.
  • Speaking, (14 minutes per pair of candidates): Tests your ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. You will take the Speaking test with one or two other candidates.

Cambridge exam: Business Higher C1 is made up of four papers developed to test your English skills:

  • Reading, 1 hour: Shows you can deal confidently with different types of text.
  • Writing, 1 hour and 10 minutes: You need to be able to write a variety of different items such as memos, letters, emails, reports and proposals.
  • Listening, 40 minutes: You need to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials, such as presentations, interviews and discussions.
  • Speaking, (16 minutes per pair of candidates): Tests your ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. Your Speaking test will be face-to-face with one or two other candidates. This makes your test more realistic and more reliable.

Intensive 1 month: 4 weeks, twice a week, 2 hour sessions

Fast forward 2 months: 8 weeks, once a week, 2 hour sessions

Private Fast Forward or Intensive: 4 or 8 weeks, once or twice a week, 2 hour sessions
